Read-Alikes

Tired of reading books by the same author? Read everything by your favorite author? Try Read-Alikes.

Read-Alikes are books or series you might enjoy reading if you like a particular author or genre of literature. For example, if you like to read Tom Clancy, you might enjoy books by Stephen Coonts; or if you like reading Anne Perry you might find Elizabeth Peters enjoyable.

Pick up a list of Read-Alikes at the display near the Adult Services Desk in the Troy Public Library and enjoy reading a new author.

The Library also has two great electronic resources to assist you: Novelist Plus helps you find a favorite author and lists read-alikes; Literary Resource Center contains more than 10,000 plot summaries, book reviews and literary criticisms.

You can also go to the Reader's Advisory Online Blog to expand your reading horizons. There you will find lists of "hottest books of the week" in fiction and nonfiction.
