All That Jazz

piano handsApril is Jazz Appreciation Month, designated so by the Smithsonian since 2001.  To celebrate America's unique art form, check out the display in Troy Library's Adult Services Department. While you're at it, take a look at the extensive Jazz CD collection.

And don't forget the local jazz scene with the 31st Annual Detroit Jazz Festival (DJF) slated for Labor Day Weekend. It is never too early to make your plans!

One of the best ways to celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month is to see live jazz music. Metro-Detroit area jazz lovers have an excellent opportunity to do this when one of the living legends of jazz, Sonny Rollins, performs Tuesday, 4-6-10 at the Orchestra Hall.

If you can't get down to see the performance, the Library has several great CDs by Sonny Rollins available for checkout. Go here for a list: http://catalog.library.troymi.gov/polaris/search/searchresults.aspx?ctx=...
