Celebrate 50+ Years of TV Guide
The Troy Library is celebrating the 53rd Anniversary of TV Guide in November with a special display of television series on DVD. Stop by the kiosk near the reference desk in the Adult Services Department to explore new series, and revist your favorites from the past. We carry a broad range of titles, so you may find such gems as Northern Exposure, Nero Wolf, Rawhide, The Flintstones, M.A.S.H. and Doctor Who. Or, you can catch up on episodes you missed from 24, Will & Grace, Medium and others.
Each box in the display contains up to six discs and may be checked out for 14 days free-of-charge. Most television seasons fit in one box. Some of the longer series are labeled Season I, Discs 1-4 and Season I, Discs 5-8, for example, so check the labels to make sure you are selecting exactly what you wish to view.
If you're looking for the latest season of a current television series on DVD, check out the Feature TV area. These newer titles also go out for 14 days, with a $5 charge. Remember, the display can only hold a sampling. To see all the series not currently checked out visit the regular television DVD shelves.
Enjoy the best of television, commercial-free, on these chilly autumn evenings!
Star Trek is an American (er, actually a global) cult classic! It gave a whole 3 generations (Boomer, X, my own Net Generation and if you count non-adults, the Digital Natives who come after mine) the impetus and driving urge to explore the heavens! How I'd love to live among seas of infinite beauty! How I'd love to be a neutrino, or a magnetar, shining the night away in immense glory of immense interstellar significance! Wouldn't you?
Please tell me Star Trek is apart of the collection.
Thank you!
Yes, we have several DVDs of Star Trek, including all three seasons of the original television show.
