Andy the Therapy Dog Visits the Library

Jane Alkon and Andy the Labrador Retriever Therapy Dog are visiting the Troy Library at 4 pm, on November 5, November 19, and December 10. Children who are reading and want to read to a dog are welcome. Jane encourages children to increase their reading skills in a wonderful, non-threatening, non-judgmental way.

What an amazing dog.  He really does look at the page and appear completely to be reading with the child.  What a great experience for any child starting out reading, or reading chapter books.  Don't miss it!!!!

As Andy's owner and handler, I am so thrilled that patrons are enjoying the program and finding it so worthwhile.  Andy is such a special dog and it is wonderful beyond words that I can come to the Library with him and share him with so many people.  Andy has a lot of "jobs" as a certified therapy dog and reading with kids is far and away one of the most rewarding.
