Downloadable eBooks, Audiobooks and Video


The Library currently offers two services that provide eBooks, eAudiobooks, and video, most of which you can download directly to your computer or portable device: NetLibrary and OverDrive.

NetLibrary Logo eBooks and Audiobooks
NetLibrary features eBooks and eAudiobooks. To use NetLibrary, you must first create an account in person at the Troy Public Library. Come to the Technology Center or Adult Reference Desk for assistance. You must have a Troy Library card.

NetLibrary eBooks:

- Are viewed directly online and are not downloadable.

- Are always available.

- Can not be transferred to eReaders.

NetLibrary eAudiobooks:

- Come in two formats: WMA and MP3.

- Are downloadable.

- Are always available.

- Can be transferred to a variety of mobile devices. Click here to see a list of supported devices.


OverDrive logo eBooks, Audiobooks and Videos
OverDrive features downloadable eBooks, eAudiobooks, and video. You must have a Troy Library card to use OverDrive.

OverDrive eBooks:

- Come in three different formats: EPUB, Adobe PDF, and Mobipocket.

- Need to be downloaded to your computer to be viewed.

- Are not always available. They are checked out and put on hold like physical library items.

OverDrive eAudiobooks:

- Come in two formats: WMA and MP3.

- Are downloadable.

- Some titles are always available. Others are not always available.

- Are checked out and put on hold like physical library items.

- Is always available.
